Since being featured in the 2003 Venice Biennale, considered the most important venue for contemporary artists in the 20th – 21st century, Papetti has caught the eye of collectors and art critiques worldwide. Referred to as the "artist's artist" and the "icon of contemporary Italian painting," Alessandro Papetti reflects the creative genius of his heritage and epoch while offering a fresh and unique approach to an ancient medium of art.
As a self taught artist, Papetti was inspired by Bacon and Giacometti whose influences resonate with the artist's awareness of space and its fundamental relationship with the subject matter. Papetti sees space as something that is not merely a neutral container, but a concept that defines us. "...what is Italian about Papetti is his masterly self-effacement in confrontation with the subject matter." Papetti aims to "capture" the moment on canvas in the same way as a camera would, in a fraction of a second. "It's like the movie reel -- a sequence of frames, of movements, and an illusion that everything flows.
Recent museum exhibitions include the Galleria Comunale d'Arte in Cesena, Italy, and the Musei Civici di Villa Manzoni in Lecco, Italy.
