ChloƩ Gammon

My work addresses the implications of urban sprawl on the natural landscape and the physical and psychological consequences of this action.  Microcosms of commodity fetishism and controlled environments float as isolated forms to reflect the way in which humanity has obscured interdependence with other living systems.

The seemingly unrelated forms that mold these microcosms emphasize this severed co-existence and address the anthropocentric impulse to engineer and control.  The color and repetition of these forms speaks to the spell of consumerism and to the cultural anesthesia that sustains the behaviors in which we collectively and unconsciously participate on a massive scale.
