Aline Hoffart is attached to creating portraits. Whether the artwork reflects a person, animal, or grouping of subjects, the aim is to capture them - at a moment in time. Rather than using exact rendering to convey the character of the subject, Hoffart prefers loose, gestural brush treatments and washes. The ambiguous areas of canvas are meant to invite the viewer in - to examine, speculate, identify.
