Henri Masson

1907-1996 Henri L. Masson born at Namur (Belgium) came to Canada with his family in 1921. Studied for a time at the Ottawa Art Association but was mainly self-taught. Worked as an engraver on silver for a number of years but painted from about 1934. Lived in Ottawa and painted genre chiefly in Hull, and landscape, in the Gatineau Valley. Has travelled in Europe, and the United States. Taught at the summer school of Queen's University, Kingston, Ontario, 1948-1952; also taught children's classes at the National Gallery of Canada, 1948-1950; LL.D.
